The Lord, Your Physician

Exodus 15:26 - And said, If you will diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD your God, and will do that which is right in his sight, and will give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon you, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that heals you. This verse is one of the first in the Bible that deals directly with the matter of God’s will concerning health, and it has been regarded by many as a key part of the foundation underpinning the truth of what has been called divine healing. The subject of divine healing is controversial, and many people have a distorted view of what is meant by it; even more reason to have balanced and well-adjusted teaching on the subject. Freedom from Oppression

Acts 10:38 – How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power: who went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.     Peter was a direct eyewitness to the ministry of Jesus; he walked with Him and lived very closely to Him for three and one-half years. Peter’s description and summary spoken to Cornelius’ household gives us a very trustworthy, insider’s look at the essence of Jesus’ life and ministry. I am sure there are many things that Peter could have said about Jesus but he carefully and accurately depicted Him in this way. What he discloses to us here, in this power-packed verse, is of supreme importance, so let’s take a closer look.     ‘God anointed Jesus’. Mar 5:25 -29   -  And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years, And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse, When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment. For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole. And  [immediately]  the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in  her  body that she was healed of that plague .     The book of Mark is a historical document and an accurate record of actual people; there was indeed a certain woman. Possibly no other account in the New Testament so graphically describes such an ordeal as this dear lady suffered. Isaiah 58:8 -  Then shall  your  light break forth as the morning, and  your  health shall spring forth speedily …     Every intelligent person recognizes that things in this world of ours are not as they should be and that something has gone terribly wrong but, most people do not understand why. The Genesis record, however, makes it quite clear that the current state of things is because man chose his own way and did not obey God’s original instructions. Due to Adam’s disobedience a door was opened wide allowing spiritual death and its many tragic offspring, such as sickness, to come in unrestricted; consequently and unfortunately, the entire human race is now born to die; we are subject to sickness and susceptible to it. The Heart of God is the Will of God

Mark 1:40-42 -  And there came a leper to him, beseeching him, and kneeling down to him, and saying unto him, If you will, you can make me clean. And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and touched him, and said unto him, I will; be   clean. And as soon as he had spoken, immediately the leprosy departed from him, and he was cleansed.    This account of the leper seems to be strategically high-lighted near the beginning of Jesus ministry as if to set a precedent concerning the will of God for all those who are seeking healing. The leper, no doubt, had heard of His ministry and a glimmer of hope must have sprung up in his heart. ‘I have heard of a man who is healing people. He obviously has power from God, and sickness seems to disappear at His very presence, but, I wonder if He would heal a leper, an outcast, a forsaken one like me?’ This leper had long since forgotten the warmth of human contact and the simple pleasure of friendships. The Sequence to Receiving

Matt 4:23  - And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.      Jesus was a man anointed and sent on a mission by God. That mission was all about people and those people were what He referred to as, the lost sheep of the house of Israel. So, He went where the people were; He went to their gathering place and took advantage of every opportunity to teach. If we take note of how many times, in the Gospels, it is recorded that Jesus taught, we would come to the conclusion that He taught more than any other one thing. He was anointed to bring healing, to be sure, but He did not put the healing ministry ahead of His teaching ministry. People can be healed but then not necessarily have a change in their thinking and mindset and consequently, they will not have any lasting change and they may also lose what they may have gained. Pro 4:20 -23   - My son, attend to my words; incline your ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from your eyes; keep them in the midst of your heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh. Keep your heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.      One of the primary things we see in this opening verse is that God is always, first and foremost, concerned about our relationship. ‘My son’. Just think about the fact that God affirms us as His sons; He acknowledges that He is our Father. Any parent immediately understands that their son, particularly, a young son, is entirely their responsibility. As a parent we are constantly thinking of our children; we are constantly planning for their future; we are constantly aware of where they are at and what influences are coming into their young minds.
